PREVENTION
The role of prevention in heart disease can not be emphasized enough. There is clear evidence derived from the clinical trials, that risk of heart disease and stroke can be reduced with the control of the risk factors that can be modified. Risk of dying from heart disease in Louisiana and surrounding regions is one of the highest in the the country. (map)
Due to the high prevalence of heart disease in our community, appropriate early screening is extremely important. Specially in the presence of one or more of the listed risk risk factors.
Most of the risk factors of heart disease do not present with any symptoms, they are usually silent, due to this reason periodic screening at recommended intervals is integral to the prevention of heart and blood vessel diseases.
